Dr. Maguen received his medical degree from the Sackler Medical School, Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel. He completed his residency at Case VVestern Reserve University and a fellowship in cornea1 diseases at the Estelle Doheny Eye Foundation, University of Southern California School of Medicine. Dr. Maguen has been in private practice in Los Angeles for more than 20 years and participated in founding the Ophthalmology Research Laboratories at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (CSMC). Widely respected and known for his research in refractive surgery, Dr. Maguens instruments and tissue preservation techniques are used worldwide. He is a pioneer in research of applying laser technology to eye surgery and cataract removal. Dr. Maguen lectures and teaches refractive surgery throughout the world and has authored over 100 ophthalmic papers. In addition to his research on laser technology for eye surgery, he has participated in the pioneering studies at CSMC of the excimer laser for the correction of nearsightedness.
